Kaiyuan Temple in Quanzhou City

Quanzhou City is located in Fujian Province. When visiting this city, one must visit the famous Kaiyuan Temple, which can be seen from afar with its two pagodas.

Kaiyuan Temple is a Hindu-Buddhist temple built in the second year of the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, with a history of over 1,300 years. Additionally, Kaiyuan Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in Fujian Province, covering an area of 78,000 square meters (840,000 square feet). It is also one of the few remaining Hindu temples on mainland China. Originally named Lotus Temple, Xingjiao Temple, or Longxing Temple, its current name was adopted in the 26th year of the reign of Emperor Xuanzong (738 AD) of the Tang Dynasty.
