🕌Quanzhou Ancient Temples|Experience the Thousand-Year Buddhist Chants and Discover the Charm of the Eastern Buddhist Kingdom
Quanzhou, known as the "World Museum of Religions," is home to numerous ancient temples. Each temple carries a profound history and showcases unique architectural aesthetics, making them worth exploring in detail. 🙏
📍Must-Visit Ancient Temples:
• Kaiyuan Temple: The oldest Buddhist temple in Quanzhou, featuring the iconic East and West Pagodas of Minnan architecture with exquisitely carved structures. The thousand-year-old mulberry tree in the Sanglian Dharma Realm is said to have been planted by monks, exuding a mystical aura. Free admission, open from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
• Cheng Tian Temple: Known as the "First Zen Forest in Fujian," this temple boasts a serene garden layout with towering ancient trees, offering a tranquil experience. Free admission, open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Guan Di Temple: Although not a Buddhist temple, it is highly popular among worshippers. Its vibrant ceramic decorations are stunning, making it an important site for Minnan folk beliefs. Free admission, open all day.
💡Practical Tips:
Dress modestly when visiting ancient temples, avoiding shorts and skirts. Note that climbing the East and West Pagodas in Kaiyuan Temple requires an additional fee (15 RMB/person). Morning visits are recommended for fewer crowds and better lighting. You can also explore nearby West Street and try local Quanzhou snacks like noodle paste and meat dumplings.
