Lindos Acropolis, Rhodes

The climb up to Lindos Acropolis is half the fun—narrow cobblestone alleys, donkeys (though I skipped the rides), and classic white-washed homes line the way. Once at the top, the ruins are impressive and the views over the turquoise bay are unforgettable. You get a double bonus here: rich ancient history and a picturesque island town below. I spent the day exploring the Acropolis and then swimming in St. Paul’s Bay nearby.
