Richmond Bridge, built in 1825 by convict hands, is Australia’s oldest stone bridge still in use—and it remains as photogenic as ever. As I stood on its ancient archway overlooking the Coal River, it felt like a page from a living history book. The elegant sandstone glows under the sunlight, while ducks and geese roam the lush riverbanks below.
Surrounding the bridge is the quaint village of Richmond, dotted with charming cafés, boutique stores, and 19th-century cottages that whisper stories of Tasmania’s colonial past. After a leisurely photo session, I strolled to a nearby café for a flat white and a warm scone—there’s no shortage of good food here.
Richmond Bridge is not just a stop for pictures; it’s a moment of stillness wrapped in elegance and nostalgia. A place where Tasmania’s charm and history converge.
