Weihai Chengshantou|Catch China's first ray of morning light at the "End of the Sky," where 2,000 years of imperial dreams are hidden between the mountains and sea✨
Who would have thought that at the land's end where China first embraces the sunrise lies a secret mountain and sea realm that even Emperor Qin Shi Huang was obsessed with?
At 4:30 AM, sneaking into Chengshantou in the dark, the wind wrapped in sea mist hits your face. Standing on a 200-meter-high cliff waiting for the sunrise—when the orange-red fireball shatters on the sea surface and golden light spreads across the Yellow Sea, you suddenly understand Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s obsession with his two eastern tours: the stone stele inscribed by Li Si with "End of the Sky" stands right at the cliff’s edge, beneath your feet huge waves crash against the reefs, behind you is the 2,200-year-old Shi Huang Temple, ancient cypress trees shading Qin bricks and Han tiles, and even the wind carries legends of the "Land of Morning Dance."
Walking along the Zoutianya plank road toward the sea, the reddish reefs are wrapped in green moss, the sea spray carries a salty tang, and seagulls skim just overhead—you can hold out a sausage and have them land in your palm, the tickle of their wings brushing your wrist is the unique romance of "China’s Cape of Good Hope."
The most amazing experience is the immersive performance at the Blessings Like the East Sea Scenic Area: wearing Hanfu and blending in with Qin soldiers, following Xu Fu’s procession past the Blessing Platform and the Shark Shooting Platform, hearing the drumbeats of Emperor Qin’s sun worship ripple across the sea. Turning around, the golden statue of the Sun God is immersed in the blue-green water, even the koi fish chase the light and shadow.
By evening, the melody from the Music Road drifts out with the tires, looking back at the "Good Luck Cape" stele dyed warm orange by the sunset, you finally understand why this place is called "The Place Where the Sun Rises"—the mountains and sea are a millennia-old canvas, and the morning light and seagull calls are love poems written to the End of the Sky.
