New Taipei Sanxia Indigo Dyeing Service Center: Experience a slow, handmade deep breath between indigo fingertips

Sanxia, a small town surrounded by mountains and waters, not only has the bustling atmosphere of the old streets and the Zushi Temple, but also hides a deep blue tranquility - that is the "Sanxia Indigo Dyeing Service Center".
This place not only displays the indigo dyeing craft, but also is the starting point for travelers to get in close contact with the land culture.

When you step into the center, a faint scent of indigo grass hits you in the face. The walls are covered with blue and white interwoven fabrics, from handkerchiefs, scarves, clothing, lampshades to curtains, all of which are hand-dyed fabrics based on traditional plant dyeing, and each piece is unique. The most attractive thing is the indigo dyeing DIY experience open on site.

Led by a teacher, from introducing the extraction process of indigo plants to folding, clamping cloth, tying ropes, soaking, oxidation... step by step, you can participate in it yourself. The process of the cloth unfolding, changing, and turning deeper in the water is like a kind of spiritual precipitation and dialogue. You don't need too many techniques, but you have to learn to slow down the pace and "empathize" with the dye, time, and fabric.
