We spent a lovely afternoon at Odori Park, and it quickly became one of our favorite spots in Sapporo. Stretching across 12 city blocks right in the urban core, the park offers a stunning mix of nature, art, and city life—without ever feeling crowded.
When we visited, the park was in full bloom, with colorful flower beds, well-kept lawns, and charming walkways that invited relaxation or a leisurely stroll. There’s a delightful feeling of calm just meters away from the bustling city streets. We paused by several sculptures, a few fountains, and even watched kids chasing bubbles near the playground area—it was effortlessly joyful.
At one end of the park stands the iconic Odori TV Tower, offering impressive views of the city below. We didn’t take the elevator up this time, but taking photos from the base was already worthwhile. We also noticed food carts nearby, perfect for grabbing a chilled drink or snack while people-watching.
What made the space special was how well it balances greenery with city vibrancy. Families picnicking on the grass, couples strolling hand in hand, and office workers grabbing a quick break under the shade—it all felt harmonious. It was a welcome pause in our city exploration and genuinely felt like the living room of Sapporo.
If you’re in town, take the time to wander through Odori Park, soak in the atmosphere, and let the city’s pulse slow down around you.
