Maruyama Park in peak autumn foliage

Maruyama Park is at its best right now. From the entrance, the vibrant red hues spread like a burst of color. Each tree displays a different shade—some are a soft orange, not yet fully ripened, while others are already a deep grape-like purple. People walking through the park remain quiet. Instead of words, the sound of camera shutters whispers softly.

When the wind blows, leaves scatter like rain. You reach out to catch a falling leaf but miss. It feels bittersweet, yet it brings a smile. Even without catching it, the moment feels complete.

Following the path, you’ll find rows of old zelkova trees. The sunlight streaming through their roots feels warm, making you pause for a moment. If you hold your palm up to the sunlight, the shadows of the leaves are vividly cast.

In the distance, you hear children laughing, couples taking photos on benches, and an elderly couple sharing a packed lunch. Maruyama Park feels like a place that embraces everyone, no matter who arrived first.

As you turn back along the leaf-covered path, a thought crosses your mind. The autumn leaves bloom in the same place every year, but each year, you see them with a different heart.
