I don't know if it's famous in Korea or worldwide,
but there are three major winter festivals.
Snow Festival in Quebec, Canada
Ice Lantern Festival in Harbin, China
And this time, I'm going to introduce the Yuki Matsuri in Sapporo, Japan

The Sapporo Yuki Matsuri is a festival where various snow sculptures are made or ice sculptures are carved using Susukino Street in the center of Sapporo.

Sapporo gets a lot of snow in the winter. It really snows like crazy. If you just get off the main street, the snow piles up to the second floor of an apartment building. With this much snow, it doesn't seem like there's enough snow to hold a snow festival (Yukimatsuri).

It doesn't feel like it's on the continent like the Chinese Ice Lantern Festival, but there's no admission fee and performances are held on a large stage at regular intervals.

If you're thinking of traveling to Japan in the winter, I recommend going during the Sapporo Yukimatsuri period.
