🌸 Nanzoin Temple — Serenity, Hydrangeas, and the Great Reclining Buddha

Nestled in the peaceful mountains of Sasaguri, Nanzoin Temple (南蔵院) is a place where nature and spirituality come together beautifully. The temple is best known for its giant reclining Buddha, one of the largest bronze statues in the world, symbolizing peace and Nirvana.

During the rainy season, the pond filled with blooming hydrangeas creates a dreamy landscape — reflections of purple and blue petals shimmering on the water’s surface. Throughout the temple grounds, you’ll also find small Jizo statues wearing red knitted hats, lovingly placed as guardians of travelers and children.
