It was founded in 1874 by former retainers of the Date clan.

The deity worshipped is Takefuruhiko-no-mikoto

The Aoba Festival is held on the anniversary of Date Masamune's death (May 24th) during the spring festival.

The grounds are dotted with things related to Date Masamune, making this a shrine that history fans will love.
