đŸ”„ Worth the Wait – Beef Tongue Perfection at Gyutan Kaku, Vlandome

I knew I had made the right call the moment I saw the long queue snaking outside Gyutan Kaku – Vlandome. When you’re in Sendai, trying their famous gyutan (beef tongue) is practically a must, and after combing through Google Maps for the highest-rated spots, this one stood out—and for good reason.

Even though reservations are accepted, we decided to try our luck with a walk-in. No luck—queues were unavoidable, and we ended up waiting around 30–40 minutes. But here’s the thing: even as we waited, more people kept arriving and joining the queue. That’s always a good sign.

Once seated, we went for the classic grilled beef tongue set, while the kids opted for the beef tongue curry. The gyutan was perfectly cooked—tender yet with that signature chewiness, beautifully charred, with a subtle smoky flavor and rich seasoning. It didn’t taste gamey at all; in fact, it could easily pass off as a premium beef cut. Every bite had that “wow” factor.

Portions were satisfying, and the pricing was very reasonable for the quality. If you’re planning to go, make a reservation ahead of time to avoid the wait—but even if you don’t, this place is well worth it.
