[Miyagi] Akiu Otaki Falls, Sendai City

#SummerCampaign

This 6-meter-wide, 55-meter-high waterfall has been selected as one of Japan's "100 Best Waterfalls" and designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty.
Its thunderous roaring cascade is a powerful force, earning it one of Japan's "Three Great Waterfalls (Great Waterfalls)," alongside Kegon Falls (Tochigi Prefecture) and Nachi Falls (Wakayama Prefecture).
You can view the entire waterfall from the viewing platform, or descend to the basin from the side of Fudotaki Bridge, a 5-10-minute walk down the footpath. The spray from the cascading waterfall creates a spectacular mist.

The neighboring Akiu Otaki Fudoson Temple is known as the inner sanctuary of Yamadera Risshakuji Temple. It is a Shingon sect temple dedicated to Acala. Its official name is Takimotosan Saikoji Temple, and it is the 29th temple on the Thirty-six Fudo Pilgrimage Sites of Tohoku and the 26th temple on the Michinoku Pilgrimage.
Surrounded by lush greenery, the temple grounds are home to a large ginkgo tree designated as a city-preserved tree, which transforms into a vibrant golden color in autumn.
The waterfall is also surrounded by maples, oaks, and other trees, attracting many tourists during the autumn foliage season from mid-October to early November.
