During this trip to South Korea, the Samsung Museum of Art gave me a great art experience!
🏛️Architectural style
The entire museum was designed by three internationally renowned architects, Mario Botta, Jean Nouvel and Rem Koolhaas, and each building has its own unique features. The building designed by Mario Botta was inspired by the beauty of Korean porcelain and uses terracotta tiles, which is classic and elegant; the building designed by Jean Nouvel is composed of modern glass and rusty stainless steel, mainly displaying contemporary art, full of modern sense; the building designed by Rem Koolhaas has a black concrete exterior, like a black box suspended above the ground. This is the Samsung Children's Education and Culture Center.
🎨Collection Exhibits
The museum's collections are displayed in three buildings. The buildings designed by Mario Botta feature Buddhist artifacts, Korean ceramics, calligraphy and paintings; the buildings designed by Jean Nouvel feature Korean and international art from 1910 to the present. Here are Jean-Michel Basquiat's "Untitled (Black Figure)" and Josef Albers' "Homage to the Square: Interpenetration a", etc. The collection is really rich and dazzling.
🗓️Itinerary
The most convenient way to get to the museum is by public transportation: Take Seoul Subway Line 6 to Hangangjin Station, exit from Exit 1, and walk a short distance up the hill to the museum. Parking spaces in the museum are limited, so we recommend that you travel green.
💖In general, Leeum Samsung Museum of Art is a must-see for both art and architecture lovers. Here, you can feel the perfect fusion of art and architecture and enjoy a visual feast!
