🇰🇷Soulful Seoul🇰🇷
We visited the famous Jogyesa Temple on the 1st day of the Lunar New Year💕
The temple was built in 1395, at the start of the Joseon Dynasty. Then the modern temple was established in 1910 and was originally located at a different location. At this time, the temple was known as Gakhwangsa.
It was then finally moved to this location in 1937.
This temple is one of the most important Buddhist temples in South Korea, we saw people praying at the temple and also just sitting down to bask in the atmosphere. I loved the display of the colorful lotus lanterns around the temple. It usually lights up at night too!
There is also the 500-year old Lacebark Pine Tree which features a distinctive and beautiful brown bark. These types of trees grow and reproduce slowly making them very rare and important to the history of Korea.
This temple is open 24 hours so visit it when in Seoul👍
