Former Seoul Station building "Culture Station Seoul 284" celebrates its 100th anniversary

#Let'sGoOverseas

"Culture Station Seoul 284" is located right next to Seoul Station. It is the 284th national historic site. It was built in 1925 during the Japanese invasion and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025. It looks similar to Tokyo Station.

It was in use until 2004, and after restoration work, it was restored to its former appearance in 2011, and since 2012 it has been used for cultural exchange among citizens.

It is a Renaissance-style building, and the hall at the entrance on the first floor is an open-air building with stone pillars, stained glass, elevators, ticket booths and lockers.

There is a waiting room and a VIP room that is said to have been used by the president. The fireplace, chandeliers, curtains, window frames and doors are original and have been reproduced based on records, so you can experience the original appearance.

Going up the stairs to the second floor, there are exhibits to learn about the history and structure, with the same brick walls as the exterior. There is also a large room that was used as a dining hall.

Cultural events are also frequently held here, and when I visited, the Seoul Department Store Local to Seoul 100 Diaries event was being held.

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, over 100 brands from each region were introduced, allowing visitors to experience the charm of the local culture and take home memories with them. They were also available for purchase.

I bought PALDO caramel, which has a lovely package design using traditional designs. The caramel was so delicious that it melted in my mouth.

You can visit for free, so please feel free to come and visit. ^_^

After leaving the main exit of Seoul Station, go down to the road and turn left. Tuesday to Sunday 10:00-19:00. Last admission 18:00.
