Following the "tree journey" program at World Cup Park in Mapo-gu, Seoul, allowed me to explore every nook and cranny of the park, discovering its hidden natural gems.
The highlight for me was undoubtedly the tree quiz. Searching for various trees and solving riddles about them significantly deepened my understanding of arboreal life. While I'm sure some of the specific details will fade with time, the overall experience was incredibly fun and enriching. I was also pleasantly surprised to discover how many tree names I already knew – a rather fascinating revelation!
Even on an overcast day, the park offered beautiful sights. The soft light allowed for comfortable viewing of the surroundings, and I particularly remember the elegant Korean fringe tree (이팝나무) standing gracefully beneath the pretty sun.
One memorable observation was of the "Chil-yeop-su" (칠엽수), a tree whose name, meaning "seven-leaf tree," perfectly describes its distinct characteristic of having seven leaves. It's the kind of detail that makes you truly look up and appreciate nature's simple wonders.
Overall, World Cup Park provides a wonderfully engaging and educational escape. It's a fantastic destination for anyone looking to connect with nature, learn something new, and simply enjoy a peaceful stroll amidst beautiful greenery.
