Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun Premier Deluxe

Shilla Stay hotels have a similar room structure across locations, whether it's Mapo, Guro, or Gwanghwamun, so the differences between them are not very noticeable. All three are conveniently located near subway stations, and Guro boasts an open city view.

At Gwanghwamun, I was upgraded to a Premier Deluxe room on the 17th floor. Although the guarantee was for an upgrade from Standard to Deluxe, I ended up receiving an additional upgrade.

The Premier Deluxe room includes a minibar with two cans of beer, one can of cola, a small Pringles, and a disposable razor. The Deluxe floors are located between the 16th and 19th floors.

The reception is on the 8th floor, and Standard rooms are on floors 9 to 15, meaning the hotel starts at higher floors compared to other locations. If Samsung is the flagship Shilla Stay in Gangnam, then Gwanghwamun is its counterpart in Gangbuk.

On this day, I visited Namyangju for afternoon tea, then went to a gathering with childhood friends and their spouses. I left for Gwanghwamun around 10:30 PM from Hagye but fell asleep on the bus. As a result, I ended up in Namgajwa and had to return to Gwanghwamun, checking in around midnight.

I opted not to add breakfast the next day and chose to rest in the room instead. Although I received a corner-side room, the window was not on the side but at the end of the room. Despite being on the 17th floor, the view was narrower compared to the 11th-floor room I had at Nine Tree, as it was surrounded by tall buildings.

The rooms here come with either a shower booth or a bathtub. At the previous two locations, I had requested a room with a bathtub in advance, but since I checked in close to midnight, I accepted the room as it was.

Getting upgraded to Premier was a stroke of luck! The checkout time was 12 PM, and the hotel's location in an inner alley away from the main road meant it was relatively quiet. The snowfall in the morning added a beautiful touch to the scenery. Thank you.
