Bukchon Hanok Village in Jongno‑gu, Seoul, is a preserved historic neighborhood featuring hundreds of traditional hanok houses dating back to the Joseon Dynasty. It’s still a residential area, now reimagined as an open‑air cultural district with museums, tea houses, workshops, and cafés. Home to over 900 hanok houses, formerly owned by nobility and high-ranking officials of the Joseon era. Many remain private residences—others have been converted into guesthouses, cafés, and cultural spaces. Bukchon Traditional Culture Center sits at the heart of the area (~37 Gyedong‑gil). Once a Min family hanok, it now serves as an info hub with free maps, exhibits, and occasional workshops (closed Mondays).
