Meeting Park Seo-bo, a Master of Korean Dansaekhwa, at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

One of the must-visit spots in Seoul is the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA). I recently had the chance to see Park Seo-bo's works in person.

Seeing 'Dansaekhwa,' which I had only encountered in textbooks or articles, up close was an entirely different experience. The texture created by repeatedly drawing and layering on the canvas changes depending on the light, giving off a calm yet strangely intense vibe. When viewed closely, you can see each brushstroke meticulously layered like a meditative process, making it feel as though you're experiencing the artist's time and rhythm alongside the artwork.

The exhibition space, with its soft lighting, beautifully highlighted the subtle textures of the pieces. Standing there, I felt an inexplicable sense of purification. 🌿 If you want to experience the flow of contemporary art and the prominence of Korean artists firsthand, I highly recommend checking out Park Seo-bo's works at MMCA.
