A Bit Too Much Modern Art: My Visit to MMCA Seoul 🎨

We went to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul (MMCA). I expected something a bit different, judging by the photos on Naver. There are several exhibitions running now, and I chose a ticket that included all of them.

At first, it was interesting and refreshing — but after a while, the endless paintings of water drops started to feel repetitive, just like the never-ending vases at the National Museum of Korea. Some halls even had such a heavy, oppressive atmosphere that they felt unsettling.

Maybe that’s someone’s kind of art, but personally, I wouldn’t want to dive into a state where I feel sad, anxious, or want to run away. Overall, it’s a great place — eight full exhibition halls — but make sure to check the current program before going so you don’t end up disappointed.
