Walking Through History on the Xi’an City Wall

#holidayitinerary Exploring the Xi’an City Wall in Shaanxi Province feels like stepping back in time while still enjoying the city’s lively atmosphere. This ancient structure, one of the best preserved in China, stretches for miles and offers a unique view of both old and new Xi’an.

I enjoyed renting a bike and riding along the top, feeling the breeze as the city unfolded in every direction. On one side, you see traditional rooftops and temples, and on the other, modern skyscrapers rising in the distance. The wall itself is wide and sturdy, with impressive gates and watchtowers that make you imagine what life was like centuries ago.

There are plenty of spots to stop, take photos, and simply enjoy the view. Walking the wall at sunset was especially magical, with golden light bathing the stones. The Xi’an City Wall is not just a historic monument, it is a living part of the city that connects the past and present beautifully.
