Hidden Gem Hotel in Shanghai: Dine and Stay at a Cozy Tavern with Exclusive 180-Degree Stunning River Views

I have a friend from Beijing who always stays at this hotel whenever he visits Shanghai. He has shared with me the many advantages of this place—
✔️ Recently renovated with a grand, stylish, and minimalist design;
✔️ Perfect location near the confluence of the Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek;
✔️ Offers an expansive river view, showcasing the beautiful scenery on both banks;
❗️ The key point: it’s not overrun by tourists, making it quiet, comfortable, and relaxing!

🏨 This hidden gem hotel is the Hyatt on the Bund in Shanghai.

Recently, I gathered here with friends again.
✅ We first had dinner at Aroma on the 2nd floor, which offers a weekend buffet. Surprisingly, on weekday evenings, it transforms into a cozy tavern with a very relaxed atmosphere!

💰 If you’re in a group, I recommend the tavern’s four-person set meal, costing less than 100 per person—truly great value!

♨️ Featuring local Shanghai flavors and fresh seafood from the East China Sea, here are some of my favorite dishes—
1️⃣ Shanghai-style plum and wine-marinated shrimp, refreshing and appetizing;
2️⃣ Squid stir-fried with lemongrass and sambal sauce, with a hint of Southeast Asian flavor, perfect with drinks;
3️⃣ The grilled chicken platter was a delightful surprise. I didn’t expect to find such excellent Japanese yakitori in a luxury hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, especially the chicken skewers—crispy on the outside, tender inside, juicy, and delicious.
4️⃣ I also love the local-style chestnut beef rib pot; the beef ribs are tender, the chestnuts are soft and glutinous, and the rich soy-based sauce is deeply flavorful—perfect for meat lovers.
5️⃣ For mains, there’s shrimp spring noodles and handmade fresh pork silk net potstickers, very satisfying.

6️⃣ We also ordered a large plate of crayfish, said to be Wuhan-style, slightly spicy. Compared to the common thirteen-spice flavor, this one is richer, and the shrimp meat is very fresh and plump.
7️⃣ The set meal includes 4 drinks, with a choice of 🍺 beer, soft drinks, or juice.

✅ Everyone got pretty tipsy, and after dinner, still craving more, we headed to the very trendy Vue Bar on the 32nd floor of the hotel. It’s usually quiet and comfortable here, with window seats offering river views available anytime. On weekends, there are performances, so friends who enjoy lively atmospheres will be very happy.

🌃 Taking the spiral staircase up to the 33rd floor, you reach the outdoor terrace with a 180-degree view. The stunning Pudong skyline is right before your eyes, and from this angle, you can also see the curved bay of the Bund, capturing the beautiful scenery on both sides of the river.

Finally, reluctantly saying goodbye, we walked along Suzhou Creek to the subway station. A gentle breeze blew as we captured the perfect view of Zhapu Road Bridge, with the Post Office building reflected in the shimmering waters of Suzhou Creek.
Springtime in Shanghai is truly beautiful~
