🇨🇳 Shanghai, China (中国上海)
🥟 Jia Jia Tang Bao (佳家汤包, Jia Jia Tang Bao)
I am currently traveling in Shanghai, China. On the first day of my trip, I visited Jia Jia Tang Bao (佳家汤包, Jia Jia Tang Bao), a restaurant renowned for its soup dumplings (汤包). Established in 1986, Jia Jia Tang Bao has been serving authentic Shanghai-style soup dumplings for decades and now has multiple branches across the city. We chose to visit the Huanghe Road branch (黄河路店) because it is conveniently located near the famous Bund (外滩).
We ordered the Golden Crab Roe Noodles (黄金蟹粉拌面) and Crab Roe Soup Dumplings (蟹粉汤包), which cost 121 RMB in total.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, even using a translator to communicate with us as we are foreigners. Their hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable.
If you're looking to try some local Shanghai delicacies, I highly recommend Jia Jia Tang Bao (佳家汤包, Jia Jia Tang Bao). 🇨🇳♥️
As a fan of crab roe dishes, I’ve tried many places, but Jia Jia Tang Bao truly stands out. The crab roe was abundant, rich, and flavorful, making the noodles incredibly delicious. The noodles were soft and paired perfectly with the crab roe.
For the soup dumplings (汤包), I first sipped the savory broth inside, then added some pickled ginger for a clean and refreshing taste. The umami of the crab filled my mouth, making it an unforgettable experience.
