Could this be the closest “faraway” place from the Magic City?
A friend took me to a guesthouse located by Dianshan Lake in Qingpu, Shanghai🏨, converted from a rural building🏡. Opening the window, you can see the countryside and water scenery.
The guesthouse has a large backyard with a huge lawn🌱, where you can feel “nature and wild charm” right at your doorstep. The red solid walls and hollow walls🧱 create a striking contrast with the surrounding green countryside🌳.
The rooms are spacious, with private courtyards, plenty of natural light, combining comfort and design. Natural materials like wood🪵 and rattan, paired with rough walls, create a simple and rustic living atmosphere. If you don’t want to go out, you can read📖, chat, drink tea☕️, sunbathe☀️, or watch movies🎬, letting time quietly slip away~
Guesthouse Highlights:
✔️ Black-awning Boat River Tour🌊
You can board the boat right in the yard, sit on the black-awning boat, and drift along the clear river, feeling the ripples of the water, which is very refreshing.
✔️ Lake Cycling🚲
You can rent the guesthouse’s bicycles for free, cycle around the lake, enjoy the lake and mountain views, and fully appreciate the beauty of nature🌿.
✔️ Farmhouse Cuisine🍲
At the guesthouse, you can taste authentic farmhouse dishes like hairy crabs🦀️, braised goose, farm vegetables🥬, and chicken soup, all of which were a feast for our taste buds.
✔️ Hot Spring Soak♨️
The most surprising✨ part was that I thought soaking in the outdoor hot spring at night🌃 would be cold, but it was super comfortable, and I felt warm all night after soaking.
✔️ Fireworks🎆
Choose your favorite fireworks and set them off on the big outdoor lawn. The few minutes after lighting them up bring a joy you can’t experience in the city. But be mindful that most villagers go to bed around 7 or 8 pm, so you need to finish the fireworks before then.
