If you’re looking for a lesser-known spot in Shanghai that blends history, design, and a laid-back vibe, Columbia Circle (Shangsheng Xinsuo) is a must-visit. Once a private social club for expats in the 1920s, it’s now been transformed into a cultural and lifestyle hub filled with cafes, galleries, boutique shops, and open courtyards. I spent a slow afternoon wandering between indie bookstores/lifestyle shops selling the cutest products and taking photos at the many unique corners. It was quiet, creative, and full of character — a refreshing break from the city’s usual buzz.
