Xintiandi (新天地) is a district that blends traditional Shanghai stone gate architecture with modern conveniences, offering fashion shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, and department stores. Most of the area is car-free, making it a very pleasant place to walk. The pedestrian streets and alleys connect the area, making it a popular lifestyle and tourist destination for both locals and tourists.
What I like about this pedestrian street:
- A good blend of old and new.
- The restored Shikumen streets and buildings blend seamlessly with fashion and modern shops. - Strolling through them is beautiful, elegant, and stylish.
- Easy to walk around and car-free.
- Being a pedestrian zone (or the part separated from the road), it's a relaxing place to stroll. There are many great photo spots, and you don't have to worry too much about traffic, smoke, or other smells.
- Extensive food and beverage options.
- From hidden cafes to upscale restaurants, bars, and pastries, there's a wide variety of food options to suit every occasion. Whether you want to relax with a cup of coffee or enjoy a special dinner, there's plenty to choose from.
- Great evening/nighttime atmosphere.
- When the lights are on The shops and restaurants are beautifully lit, the bars are bustling, and there are more people traveling. It's a good place for dinner or a relaxing drink. There are a lot of people and it's lively. #visitshanghai
