My first experience with Kimpton in Shanghai! It's a high-end hotel, but one visit is enough!

#ShanghaiHotel

This was my first time staying at a Kimpton hotel. Overall, it was a boutique hotel, lacking in luxury, and the value for money was average. It was fine for a one-time experience, but I doubt I'll return. 😭

The location is on the Bund, a 10-minute walk from Taikoo Li and the Oriental Sports Center subway station. Convenience was average, with most rooms lacking a river view and often overlooking the neighboring office building.

The public areas are great! The lobby, 5th-floor lounge, and top-floor boundless pool are perfect for photography. However, the room design is lacking. While there's a fake fireplace and a leather sofa with a blanket, the rest of the room is a modern, minimalist style, similar to the new Marriott. To achieve a sense of luxury in a minimalist style, you need spaciousness and high-quality materials, but this hotel lacked both.

The service was standard and impeccable. The cost of about 2000 yuan per night is quite good, but it comes with a $100 (about 710 yuan) consumption credit and the first minibar free, so it's actually about 1400-1500 yuan.
