Unexpectedly, it has become the favourite lonely trip!

Want a slice of traditional China right in ultra-modern Shanghai? Yu Garden totally delivers – think classic buildings, lush corners, photogenic bridges, and some next-level food vibes 🌸🏮. My favorite part: Shrimp ball soup with rice noodles! Super flavorful, insanely comforting, and absolutely worth seeking out while you’re here.

Here’s how to get the most out of this spot:

Must-See: Yu Garden
Address: Shanghai Yuyuan Tourism Business District (Main entrance: North side of Huxin Pavilion, Jiuqu Bridge)
Opening Hours: 24/7 for walking, 9:00-16:00 for deeper exploration; Tuesday-Sunday; closed Mondays
Entry: if you just want to walk around, it’s for free!

Tips:
Get there early! Not only will you beat the crowds, but the morning light on those ornate roofs is unreal. But I was there in the evening and I don’t regret. It was the greatest night view ever!🥵🎑
Snap some photos on the Jiuqu (“Nine Turn”) Bridge for the classic Yu Garden shot.
Hungry? Don’t leave without trying the shrimp ball soup with rice noodles at one of the garden’s snack stalls – it’s super local and the broth is legit. If you want more, the food court just outside offers even more Shanghainese snacks.

Getting Around:
Metro is your best friend. Yu Garden Station (Line 10) is super close, just a few minutes walk. The garden is pedestrian-friendly and you don’t need a guide – just wander and soak it up.

Extra Tips:
Bring cash (RMB) for entry and snacks – some stalls still don’t take cards.
Spring and autumn are the best weather; summer can get super crowded and steamy.
