Get lost in the maze of this Tibetan Buddhist monastery

Golden splendour, endless mazes of paths and temples, and traditional Tibetan Buddhist culture. This is everything you get when you visit Songzanlin Monastery in Shangri-La.

The monastery is huge, with countless paths and corners to explore. You’ll spot monks working inside the temples or walking around the grounds, helping the monastery feel authentic and used instead of just a tourist attraction. There’s also a huge, central staircase leading to the highest temples, where the climb is exhausting but the views are absolutely worth it!

Outside of the monastery, there’s a beautiful lake surrounded by trees, mountains, and animals. A perfect fit for the area’s peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. And you can even see it from the monastery’s highest point!

I paid for my ticket at the scenic area entrance, which was 75 yuan. And that included an easy bus ride between the entrance and the front of the monastery!
