This is a tourist destination I've wanted to visit for a long time. When I finally get the chance, I'll share my preparations before ascending.
Songzanlin Monastery is the largest Lama Temple in Yunnan Province, located on a high mountain at over 3,000 meters above sea level.
Our main preparations were:
1. Take Diamox the day before ascending (altitude sickness medication).
2. Carry canned oxygen with you at all times.
3. Wear adequate warm clothing, including gloves, a hat, socks, shoes, and an umbrella or raincoat.
4. Go to bed early, before 10 PM. A friend advised me not to shower or wash my hair, but I showered as usual.
5. It's recommended to check your blood oxygen level to see if it's adequate. If your oxygen level is low, you should immediately inhale canned oxygen.
The next morning, upon arrival at the park, you'll need to buy a bus ticket up to Songzanlin Monastery. There are plenty of shuttle buses available. Upon reaching the temple, you'll have to climb hundreds of steps. If you're not comfortable with this, there are locally-owned vehicles available to take you up. Ask about prices.
Inside Songzhanlin Temple, photography is prohibited in some areas. Be sure to check the signs. The temple boasts stunningly beautiful sculptures. We recommend taking a guided tour to see everything. Importantly, walk slowly to avoid altitude sickness.
