"Shangri-La" - A majestic temple at an altitude of 3,200m

Songzanlin Monastery, also known as the "Little Potala Palace," is one of the largest temples in Tibetan Buddhism.

Located at an altitude of 3,200 meters, its golden roof gleams in the sunlight against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains. I visited this sacred site of Tibetan Buddhism in May, where history and faith are alive and well.

At Songzanlin Monastery, I was able to experience beautiful Tibetan culture, including the magnificent temple, colorful murals, and prayer wheels turned by pilgrims.

▶︎Access
It's about a 15-minute drive from downtown Shangri-La. There are buses available, but taxis are recommended as they are inexpensive.
*Due to the high altitude, it's best to conserve your energy!

▶︎Purchase Tickets
Tickets are available at the entrance.
There are signs in Japanese, so you shouldn't get lost.

▶︎Notes
- The temple has long, steep stairs, and the high altitude means you're prone to altitude sickness. Take your time and don't rush as you climb! 🚶
・There's a lake across from the temple, and the view from there is amazing, so if you have the time, be sure to check it out! ☺️
・If you want to see everything, you should plan on spending at least half a day!
