Turpan|The Wasteland-style Mazar Village

|A wasteland-style Maza Village. "Mazar" is a transliteration of Arabic, meaning "tomb of the saint".
Tuyugou Maza Village is the oldest existing Uyghur village in Xinjiang, with a history of thousands of years. It still preserves the oldest folk customs of the Uyghur people. There are only dozens of households in the village, with a permanent population of more than 1,000.

The entire village is centered on the mosque, with houses scattered irregularly around the mosque. The traditional houses in the village are basically made of earth (yellow clay and raw earth) and wood structures, with bungalows on the upper floors and cave dwellings on the lower floors. The Mazar Tombs are located on a high ground in the northwest of the village, overlooking the entire village. It is an iconic area.

Personally, Maza Village is very photogenic and very suitable for taking wasteland-style photos, but if you don’t want to take photos, I don’t think it’s necessary to come here specially. When we went there, there were not many open areas in the village and few places to visit. In addition, many places were under renovation, including the mosque. When a bulldozer passed by, it was dusty and it really looked like a wasteland. There was no way to avoid it. In general, the experience is not very good and the value of the visit is relatively low. It is enough to just take a look at the periphery (it doesn’t matter if you are one of the free ticket groups).

By the way, there are many people selling almond tea in the village. The further you go in the alley, the cheaper it is. [Sob] After we bought it, we walked to a small road and found an old lady on the side of the road selling it one or two yuan cheaper than the previous one.
