Hanging Out at Huayan and Hanging Temple

#chinatravel Visited Huayan Temple and the crazy Hanging Temple (Xuankong Si) in Shanxi, and these spots are next level cool. Huayan Temple is super chill with beautiful old buildings, colorful murals, and peaceful vibes that make you wanna just slow down and soak it all in.

Then there’s the Hanging Temple, which honestly feels like something from a movie. It’s built right into a cliff, hanging off the edge like defying gravity for over 1,500 years! Walking along those narrow wooden walkways and peeking through ancient doorways with epic views below was kinda thrilling (and a little scary, not gonna lie).

The architecture is wild, wooden beams, stone supports, all perfectly balanced. It’s amazing how this place has survived so long in such a crazy spot.

If you’re in Shanxi and want a mix of peaceful temple vibes plus some heart-racing adventure, these two temples are a perfect combo. Don’t forget comfy shoes and your camera!
