Beijing-Singapore Route 40th Anniversary Travelogue: Air China Cloud Journey and the Dreamy Encounter at Jewel Changi
From Beijing to Singapore, the 40-year route connects not just two cities but a series of unforgettable memories in the sky. I specifically chose Air China’s flight to experience this important aerial bridge linking the two countries’ key hubs.
1️⃣ Air China Experience: Premium Service Above the Clouds
Departing from Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3, Air China’s premium service accompanies the journey. Since 2006, they have offered self-service baggage check-in, making travel more convenient. Besides the comfortable cabin environment and delicious meals, the most reassuring aspect is the consistent safety record and professional crew team over the past 40 years, making every flight secure and reliable.
2️⃣ Jewel Changi: An Airport Experience Beyond Imagination
Jewel Changi is more than just an airport; it’s a captivating travel destination: the 40-meter indoor waterfall vortex is breathtaking, with water cascading from the glass dome into the lush Forest Valley below. At night, the waterfall transforms into a giant light screen with a dazzling light show. On the top floor, the Canopy Park offers various attractions. I especially enjoyed the hedge maze and mirror maze, where finding the exit among the greenery is full of fun. The discovery slides are not only a paradise for kids but also help adults rediscover their inner child.
3️⃣ Yuhua Garden and Xinghe Garden: A Dialogue of Eastern Gardens
Yuhua Garden is a hidden gem in Singapore. This typical Chinese garden is modeled after the Suzhou gardens in China. The towering pagoda blends harmoniously with the natural scenery. Strolling along the winding paths, you can admire the artfully arranged flowers, rocks, and flowing streams.
Crossing the Baihong Bridge, built in imitation of the Seventeen-Arch Bridge of Beijing’s Summer Palace, you enter Xinghe Garden. This Japanese garden features a simple and natural design, contrasting sharply with the intricate elegance of Yuhua Garden. In Xinghe Garden, the red wooden bridge is a landmark, standing out vividly against the greenery. Stone lanterns and ponds create a tranquil Zen atmosphere, bringing peace to the mind.
4️⃣ Praise Square: A Fusion of Multiculturalism
Praise Square is a hidden landmark in Singapore, featuring artificial fountains, waterfalls, and European-style buildings with a German flair. The square’s atmosphere is quiet and elegant, making it a great place to experience Singapore’s European charm.
5️⃣ Haji Lane and Sultan Mosque: A Burst of Color and Creativity
A short walk from Praise Square brings you to Haji Lane, famous for its vibrant colors. Once a warehouse district, it has transformed into a creative fashion street. The colorful walls and unique graffiti make perfect photo backdrops.
Not far away, the Sultan Mosque is one of Singapore’s most magnificent religious buildings. Its golden dome and prayer hall are impressive, showcasing the cultural heritage of Singapore’s Malay Muslim community.
6️⃣ East Coast Park: Relaxing in the Sea Breeze
At the end of the trip, I visited East Coast Park, one of Singapore’s largest seaside parks. The park stretches along the southeast coastline, covering 185 hectares, with a 7.5-kilometer-long beach. Locals cycle, jog, and barbecue here, full of vibrant life. At dusk, the sunset is breathtaking, turning the sky into a warm-toned canvas reflected on the waters of the South China Sea.
Forty years ago, the route between Beijing and Singapore was first opened; forty years later, I traveled this route, experiencing Air China’s premium service and enjoying Singapore’s diverse charms from Jewel Changi to East Coast. This route connects not only two cities but also two cultures and countless stories.
