I thought Suzhou and Hangzhou were beautiful enough, until I visited Shaoxing

😘 "With your whisper of spring, I arrived in the true Jiangnan"
White walls and black tiles, small bridges over flowing water, boats with sculling oars, old streets and ancient alleys—this poetic and picturesque Jiangnan town gave me so many surprises and romance.

🙇 Compiled a 2-day, 1-night travel guide perfect for a weekend getaway:
🔅 Day 1
Depart from Hangzhou → Lu Xun’s Hometown → Fushan Park → Cangqiao Straight Street → West Small Road
🔅 Day 2
Huangjiu (Yellow Wine) Town → Wang Xizhi’s Hometown → Bazi Bridge → East Lake → Angsang Lake → Return trip

📸 Photo spots to share:
Huangjiu Town
A hidden ancient street with no heavy commercial vibe. Stroll through the old alleys and feel the rustic charm of life.
🌼 Lu Xun’s Hometown
From the Three Flavor Study to the Hundred Grass Garden, follow the textbook and experience Shaoxing as depicted by Lu Xun.
🌟 Wang Xizhi’s Hometown
The birthplace of calligrapher Wang Xizhi. Walking along the riverside, you’ll feel the unique charm of Jiangnan water towns. The calligraphy wall near Jifang Bridge is super photogenic.
Bazi Bridge
Experience slow living here. Sit on a black-canopied boat and enjoy the scenery on both banks—time seems to slow down.
🧐 Angsang Lake
Built in the Ming Dynasty, this ancient stone embankment is a great spot for drone shots. Best visited on weekdays to avoid crowds.
East Lake: Known as the "No. 1 Water and Stone Bonsai in the World." Glide through the cliffs on a black-canopied boat and marvel at the stunning landscape—it’s like stepping into a painting.

👏👏 About accommodation
This time, I stayed at Tingjian Jiuyitang Holiday Homestay in Huangjiu Town. Secluded yet convenient, the rooms feature a charming Jiangnan style—white walls, black tiles, and a riverside setting. Opening the window reveals lush greenery, fulfilling all my dreams of a Jiangnan water town.
Tingjian Dongpu Jiuyitang Holiday Homestay (Shaoxing Huangjiu Town)
The homestay is near the entrance of Huangjiu Town, right by the river. You might even spot black-canopied boats gliding past, creating ripples. The warm, wood-toned interiors make every corner cozy and photogenic—perfect for a getaway vibe.
The homestay is well-equipped with a lakeside cafĂŠ and a Huangjiu-themed bar, so you can enjoy afternoon tea without stepping out.

🍮 Food recommendations
Don’t miss Shaoxing’s famous Huangjiu (yellow wine), with its rich cultural history. Also try Ciwu hand-pulled noodles, radish cake, Huangjiu popsicles, stinky tofu, and Huangjiu milk tea.
