Moon Mountain, located northwest of Xiji County, Guyuan City, Ningxia, and northeast of Baicheng Township on the border of Xiji and Haiyuan counties, is the highest mountain in Xiji County. The Sandishui Neolithic cultural site lies at the southwestern foot of Yueliang Mountain. The site, located 500 meters wide from east to west and 2,000 meters long from north to south, is spread across the eastern and western slopes of Beizhuang Village and the playground of Sandishui Primary School. The cultural layer is 1-2 meters thick, covered by alternating layers of black, yellow, and red soil. Numerous pottery fragments are scattered on the surface and within the cultural layer. The fragments are sandy and argillaceous, with patterns of rope patterns and stamped patterns. A relatively intact red pottery jar and bottle were unearthed. In July 1984, during construction of the school's walls, a stone axe and a gray pottery jar were unearthed. A 13-meter-long, 30-centimeter-thick gray soil layer, interspersed with numerous pottery fragments, was also discovered.
