Hokkaido | Water in the forest that is said to bring good luck

"Raiun no Mizu" springs up in the great outdoors of Shiretoko.
The name itself is very auspicious!
It is said that if you drink this water, "you will have good luck and your wishes will come true."

Whether or not it actually brings good luck is aside...
It is said that this water springs up after decades of snow that has accumulated on the beautiful Mount Sharidake.
What's more, it's cold in the summer and doesn't freeze in the winter, so many people come to get the water!
We didn't stay long, but people kept coming.
It seems that coffee made with this water is delicious, and some nearby cafes also use this water.

Further up is Raiun Shrine, but it's deep in the forest.
Also, there is a sign warning of brown bears, so we gave up on visiting because we didn't have the courage to do so.
If you do go, please be careful.
