❤️Opening remarks
Xucun, Anhui, is an underestimated and unpopular ancient village in southern Anhui. Xucun, which has almost no commercialization, has Hui-style buildings and beautiful scenery that far surpass Xidi and Hongcun.
🧡 Tour route
In fact, this is the tour route planned by the scenic area, that is, the itinerary follows the natural direction of the stream.
It can be seen that Xucun is also a village built along the river. After reaching the end, return along the original route
💛Hui style archway
There are as many as 5 Hui-style archways in the entire Xucun. Most of these archways were built during the Ming Dynasty and have a history of 500 years.
These memorial arches are:
There are two pavilions at the entrance of the scenic area: Weishengfang and Sanchaodianhanfang
The Dajunbodi Gate Archway in the middle is, strictly speaking, a clan ancestral hall, but the houses behind it have been destroyed, leaving only the gate archway in the front.
There are two statues of Shuangshou Cheng'en and Wumafang in Daguan Pavilion.
💚Hui clan temple
When I looked over here, I only saw two
The Dazhai Temple is also the Yunxi Academy
Observation House, also known as Xucun History Museum
In fact, there are Dabangbodi and Damu Temple in the guide map, but I didn’t look at the guide map carefully at the time and thought that it ended at the pavilion and the corridor. As for whether there is Dabangbodi and Damu Temple, I don’t know.
I won’t go into detail about each building as the article would be too long. I will introduce each independent building separately later.
💙Hui-style houses
Xu Shengyuan's house is very large, and currently only the three courtyards in front of the gate are open to the public.
Shen Wenyuan's house has skilled bamboo weavers inside. The platform at the back door is the best place to take photos of Xu Village.
💜Other Hui-style buildings
Gaoyang Covered Bridge is a double-arch covered bridge built during the Song Dynasty. It may be the oldest building in Xu Village.
The Grand View Pavilion, an octagonal three-story bridge, has eight-diagram holes on each wall.
