You must stay at this affordable hotel when you come to Shenyang

My 8-day stay at the Shenyang Marriott Hotel

I stayed at the only Marriott Hotel in Northeast China for eight consecutive days, and I gained a lot from this experience. I would like to share my experience with you.

1. Overall impression: Enthusiastic service but slightly understaffed

The hotel staff do have a passion for service, and their positive attitude left a good impression on me. However, due to some objective reasons, there is a certain lack of manpower, which is reflected in some scenarios.

2. Room experience: Smooth communication and upgrade during the off-season

I stayed during the off-season, and communication with the front desk was very smooth. Although I am just a small platinum member, I was fortunate enough to be arranged to stay in an apartment suite. The facilities in the room are all well-known brands, showing quality. However, in terms of toiletries, like the Conrad, they use large bottles. Although I can understand the differences in positioning of different hotels, from a hygiene perspective, there may be room for improvement, and the Grand Hyatt handles this relatively better. What is very regional is that the bathroom is equipped with a bath towel, and the suite also thoughtfully provides a disposable bathtub cover, which is a detail worth praising.

3. Concierge service: Enthusiastic but understaffed

The concierge staff are friendly and always greet guests with a positive attitude. However, due to the shortage of staff, the concierge is often temporarily unattended. Once, it was even necessary for the guests and the intern concierge to work together to complete the relevant matters. Although this reflects everyone's flexibility, it also reflects the current shortage of staff.

4. Dining experience: Each has its own merits

The breakfast is more varied than the Conrad, offering guests more choices. However, in terms of taste, the Conrad seems to be slightly better. In terms of the lounge, the drinks are at a normal level, but compared to other Marriott hotels, the wine is reduced. The food provided during happy hour can meet basic satiety needs, but the taste is relatively ordinary. The afternoon tea desserts are slightly thin, with only cookies available. What is puzzling is that the delicious cakes during happy hour are not available in the afternoon. It is worth mentioning that the hotel's service is very generous during the off-season. After learning that my friend was celebrating a birthday, the front desk took the initiative to give a 1-pound animal cream fruit cake, which brought us a pleasant surprise.

Overall, the Shenyang Marriott Hotel showed a high cost performance and service level during the off-season. Although there are some small flaws, it still left a deep impression on me.
