I have always liked Kansai-style sukiyaki, but in Hong Kong, it often costs around $500 per person, which is really hard to bear. Eating in Japan is cheaper, but you can’t travel abroad often. So when I heard about this izakaya in Shenzhen that serves West Wind Sukiyaki and the prices are more than half cheaper than in Hong Kong, I decided to give it a try. The two ordered an Australian Wagyu M6 Sukiyaki set meal, a cheese lava roll and a thick egg and omelette eel rice. The set meal includes Australian Wagyu M6 Sukiyaki, potato salad, four appetizers, charcoal-grilled mackerel, fried skewers platter, and Calpis.
Australian Wagyu M6 Sukiyaki was cooked by a specialist for us. First, sautΓ© onions in a shallow iron pan, then add sugar and heat the beef. The waiter asked us if we wanted the meat to be rare or cooked, and then cooked it for us according to our request. When grilling meat, add Sukiyaki sauce. After it’s cooked, put the egg liquid in a small bowl for us to eat. After all the beef is eaten, cook the other vegetables πŸ₯¬, taro shreds and udon in an authentic way. While enjoying the meal, the waiter asked us if it tasted good. If it is not suitable, it will be adjusted. The service is first class.
Potato salad is mainly made of dense and fine potato puree, with a small amount of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. A lot of Japanese sesame sauce was poured on the mashed potatoes. The most special thing is that the crushed potato chips are added to make the taste richer.
The four-course appetizer set includes pickled cherry tomatoes, wasabi octopus cubes, etc. My favorite is the pickled cherry tomato, which is very appetizing.
Grill the mackerel until the surface is charred and fragrant, and can be served with radish puree or lemon juice.
The fried skewers platter was fried crispy, the batter was thin enough and not greasy.
Calpis adds lime πŸ‹πŸŸ©, which tastes slightly sour and very refreshing.
The cheese lava roll has a lot of evil cheese πŸ«• and salad sauce. Mango is sweet. The refreshing crab roe enhances the overall taste.
The eel in the thick egg and omelette eel rice is thick and big, and I like to add sansho powder to it. The thick egg is juicy and not drying. The rice is distinct, soft and elastic, and mixed with eel sauce.
