Meilin Reservoir - a super popular hiking and water-friendly photo spot for Shenzhen citizens, is located in Meilin Village, Futian District. Not only does it have open lake views, but it also has fun routes nearby, graffiti walls and photo spots, perfect for a relaxing weekend outing!
[Route Recommendation]
Access to the pass is recommended to be accessed from the third trailhead, which is clearly marked and moderately difficult. Along the way, there are Section 8 of Fei Lai Shi and Swan Pass, some of which are a little steep but not too strenuous, suitable for beginner to intermediate hikers. Keep walking along the main road and you can finish the whole way in about 2 to 3 hours, shaded by trees in between, and not too sunny in the summer.
【Must-play & must-check-in】
1. Merlin Reservoir Main Dam – Take a picture of the reflection on the lake and make a healing blockbuster in the early morning or dusk.
2. Flying Stone - a half-way attraction, you can simply check in and rest, overlooking a corner of Shenzhen.
3. Merlin Reservoir Graffiti Wall - A row of colorful wall paintings, attracting many photo lovers to hunt for the scenery, parents and couples can take pictures.
4. The 8th section of the Snake Sutra - part of the famous Shenzhen hiking route, feel the beauty of nature and the atmosphere of the mountains.
[Tips for Attractions]
- Up the mountain is recommended to choose a cooler time in the morning or afternoon to avoid too much sun at noon.
- Remember to bring plenty of water, a small amount of food, to replenish along the way.
- Can bring a hat or sunscreen, the slope is not large but some sections are more exposed to the sun.
- The graffiti wall location is suitable for group photos, good shooting effect, remember to fully charge the camera/phone.
- There are stone steps in the eighth section of the Snake Pass, making hiking shoes safer.
[Traffic Tips]
- You can take Metro Line 5 to Meilinguan Station and walk about 15 minutes to the third trailhead, which is commonly used by Shenzhen locals.
