At the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, located just a short walk from Tokyo Station, a special art exhibition focusing on Renoir and Cézanne from the collections of France’s Orangerie Museum and Orsay Museum is currently being held.
Photography is allowed inside except for some parts.
The 2nd and 3rd floors serve as exhibition rooms, and you can also see the small special exhibition on the 1st floor.
If you have a long umbrella, please place it in the locked umbrella stand at the entrance, and if you have large luggage, store it in the free lockers before viewing.
Audio guides can be rented on the 2nd floor. Cash only.
Please prepare 650 yen.
The narration is by Wataru Hatano and Yoshimasa Hosoya.
For about 30 minutes, the two explain as Renoir and Cézanne respectively.
Inside, there are rooms dedicated to each artist and rooms expressing the two artists’ personalities by showing the same subject painted with different brushstrokes, allowing you to see various works by the two, which was truly inspiring.
And you can see this exhibition at a great price with the Magic Hour Ticket, sold only once a month on the second Wednesday from 5 PM.
The regular price of 2,500 yen is reduced to 1,800 yen.
The museum closes at 8 PM.
If you arrive before 5 PM, there should be a line on the left side excluding the building entrance. Don’t miss this once-a-month chance.
This is a special exhibition held only here in Japan, so please be sure to visit.
