Fukushima Prefecture's unique thatched cottages (Ouchi-juku)

Our trip coincided with the August holiday week, when Japan's main tourist destination is long. I was surprised to find myself waiting 30 minutes to park in a parking lot, a mere 1 kilometer away. It was incredibly crowded.

Even if I wanted to try the local specialty, "scallion soba," I'd have to wait in line for over an hour or wait until it sold out, ultimately giving up. It was such a shame.

The quaint Japanese-style houses resembled Gassho-style houses and were truly unique!

It's best to visit during a non-weekend or extended holiday period for a more pleasant experience!
