[Kyoto] Casual dining bar with a riverside terrace, "SOMA"

I went to SOMA, a casual dining bar overlooking the Kamo River✨️

This is my second time visiting my favorite restaurant in Kyoto💗

The riverside dining season will finally start next month in May☺️
The season will be cash-on-delivery! I'm looking forward to summer✨️

This time I ordered:

・Salmon carpaccio (1000 yen)

・Kale and chickpea salad (1000 yen)

・Head-on shrimp ajillo (1050 yen)

・Roasted tea duck with red wine sauce (3200 yen)

・Strawberry gelato (600 yen)

・Passion fruit sorbet (600 yen)

✔︎︎︎︎Salmon carpaccio
SOMA's carpaccio is very thick.
It looks very gorgeous💕
The thickly sliced salmon is very filling!
The sparkling wine that came with it went down quite well☺️
This is a recommended dish for an appetizer.

✔︎︎︎︎Kale and chickpea salad
The dressing, made with lemon, cheese, olive oil, and bean broth, goes perfectly with the sour and bitter kale✨️
The texture of the chickpeas makes this salad a great match with alcohol🙆♀️

✔︎︎︎︎Head-on shrimp ajillo
Ajillo with three head-on shrimp.
The aroma is just amazing and the umami from the shrimp is irresistible✨️
Perfect as a snack💗
You can also add a baguette, which is crispy and delicious☺️

✔︎︎︎︎Roasted black tea duck with red wine sauce
The main dish this time is quite filling!
It's more than enough for two people to share.
The black tea duck is soft, sweet, and very juicy. With each bite, a mild flavor hits you✨️
It goes perfectly with the red wine sauce☺️
If it's on the recommended menu of the day, be sure to order it🥰

I had this sorbet last time and it was my favorite.
I had the passion fruit again this time!
It goes well with alcohol and is the perfect refreshing way to finish off a meal💗
It was fruity, sweet and sour, and I finished it in no time☺️

The staff were really friendly and kind, and the atmosphere was cozy.
We chatted a lot and stayed for a long time.
It's a place I want to go to every time I go to Kyoto✨️

They have a lot of special menu items and a wide selection of alcohol.
I recommend it for both your first and second stop.
They're going to start serving kawadoko from now on, so it looks like it'll be even more popular🩵
I'll definitely come again!

The second floor is a space where you can relax with a slightly different atmosphere with the lights turned down.
