If you want to experience the atmosphere of an old Japanese house but don't like the hustle and bustle of Kyoto... I recommend this place, Narai Juku.
As soon as you get off the station, you will see vintage atmosphere. Take a leisurely walk along the main street of the city. There are trinket shops, grilled mochi shops, soba shops or green tea shops on both sides of the road.
Walk from the train station to the end of the road, you will see Shizume jinja Shrine. Then walk along the Narai River, you will see the signature bridge of the city called Kiso Ohashi Bridge.
We went during the autumn leaves season. The park next to the bridge was starting to change colors beautifully. The weather was cool and comfortable.
How to get there
Take the train from Nagano or Matsumoto to Shiojiri Station and then take another train to Narai Juku Station.
Check the train schedule on Google. There are not many trains so you can plan your travel time correctly.
We spent only 2-3 hours here, including stopping at 1 dessert shop, and we were able to complete our trip. #TravelJapan #Japan #AutumnFalls #Naraijuku #JapaneseVillage #Ancient Japanese Village #naganojapan #trip free accommodation
