A great place to eat seafood and buy souvenirs - Tore Tore Market

I love Japanese sashimi and sushi, so I often visit Japanese seafood markets because they offer the freshest seafood. Toretore Market is the largest seafood market in western Japan, so it's a must-see when visiting Shirahama.

📍 2521 Katada, Shirahama-cho, Nishimuro-gun, Wakayama Prefecture
🚎 From JR Shirahama Station, take the Shirahama Town Loop Bus bound for Yuzaki and get off at Toretore Market-mae.

Tore Tore Market in Nanki Shirakko is a great place to enjoy seafood and buy local Wakayama souvenirs. The market is divided into four areas. First, the market corner (コーナー) is where you can buy seafood shipped daily from Wakayama and nationwide, and you can even see whole tuna being butchered. Then, there's the restaurant corner, where you can buy seafood rice, sashimi, sushi, and more made with fresh seafood. The third area is the souvenir corner, featuring a wide selection of Wakayama Prefecture products, particularly plum-based products like plum wine and pickled plums. There's also a selection of cookies, seasonings, soy sauce, miso, and other souvenirs. These items aren't available in Hong Kong supermarkets, and they're much more unique than snack souvenirs. Finally, there's the BBQ corner, where you can grill fish, meat, and vegetables you bought at the fish market. The variety here is overwhelming, so be sure to prepare time and money.
