Shizuishan City

Shizuishan City is a prefecture-level city in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is located in the northern part of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, bordered by Inner Mongolia on the east, north, and west, and adjacent to Yinchuan City in the south. The surging Yellow River waters to the east and the towering Helan Mountains to the west, the city is named for the protruding rocks at the intersection of the Helan Mountains and the Yellow River that resemble a mouth. Established as a city in 1960, it governs Dawukou District, Huinong District, and Pingluo County, covering a total area of 5,310 square kilometers, with a total population of 788,000, of which the urban population accounts for 73.67%, and the Hui ethnic population accounts for 22.9%. It administers 'two districts and one county,' among which Dawukou District has a total area of 1,008 square kilometers, with a planned area of 270 square kilometers; Huinong District covers an area of 1,254 square kilometers, with a planned area of 323 square kilometers; Pingluo County has a total area of 3,048 square kilometers, with a planned area of 222 square kilometers.
Shizuishan City is an emerging city, known as the 'Coal City on the Frontier,' famous for its production of smokeless coal both domestically and abroad. It is also the only prefecture-level city in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to be awarded the title of 'National Forest City.'
