Wat Koh Loi is an ancient temple, but there is no evidence of its construction. However, records of Wat Koh Loi indicate that it was built in 1899, which corresponds to the reign of King Rama V of the Rattanakosin period. At that time, Queen Savang Vadhana visited Ko Sichang and stayed overnight at Sri Maharaja Palace. She then ordered Chao Phraya Surasakmontri to invite Thammayut sect monks from Prachinburi Province to reside at Wat Koh Loi, where she offered food to the monks. Later, she offered royal Kathin robes at Wat Koh Loi Sri Maharaja. This is part of the recorded history of Wat Koh Loi.
