Wat Koh Loi is an ancient temple, but there is no evidence of its construction. However, records of Wat Koh Loi indicate that it was built in 1899, which corresponds to the reign of King Rama V of the Rattanakosin period. At that time, Queen Savang Vadhana visited Ko Sichang and stayed overnight at Sri Maharaja Palace. She then ordered Chao Phraya Surasakmontri to invite Thammayut sect monks from Prachinburi Province to reside at Wat Koh Loi, where she offered food to the monks. Later, she offered royal Kathin robes at Wat Koh Loi Sri Maharaja. This is part of the recorded history of Wat Koh Loi.
If you visit Wat Koh Loi, we recommend climbing the peak of Wat Koh Loi and entering the chapel or viharn of Luang Pho Koh Loi. Inside, a Buddha image known as "Luang Por Than Jai" and this Buddha image, according to the beliefs of the people of Sri Racha District, which have been passed down for generations, believe that King Rama V ordered the Buddha image from the Grand Palace to be enshrined in the chapel of Wat Koh Loi. This is just a speculation. As for Luang Por Than Jai, one can worship and pray for blessings, such as good fortune, success in business, or passing government exams.
The chapel door is also interesting. The temple has carved a deity or angel to guard the sacred objects within the chapel or shrine of Luang Por Koh Loi. Outside, the gilded Ganesha resides. He can be used to pray for all kinds of blessings, especially for career advancement. Finally, find a beautiful vantage point for 360-degree panoramic photos.
If you have the chance to visit Chonburi, stop by and pay your respects here. It's beautiful and unique, unlike anything you might imagine. Both the view and the Buddha image are breathtaking. It's well worth a visit.
