Brief history of Ta Keo

Ta Keo is a temple mountain located in Angkor, Cambodia. It was built during the Khmer Empire in the late 10th or early 11th century under the reign of King Jayavarman V. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and was originally named Hemasringagiri, meaning "mountain of the golden peaks." However, it was later renamed Ta Keo, which means "ancestor's tower."

Ta Keo is considered one of the most impressive temple mountains in Angkor due to its size and the quality of its construction. It was built entirely from sandstone and is made up of five levels, each one smaller than the one below it. The temple has steep stairs leading up to the top level, which offers fantastic views of the surrounding area.
